Shea Butter Refined or Unrefined

We know shea butter is great for moisturizing, but what is the difference between refined and unrefined?

Refined

• Refined shea butter is that which has been refined and processed using high heat and chemicals. The American Shea Butter Institute states that while this type of shea butter may have some moisturizing properties, it loses much of its healing and therapeutic properties in the refining process. Refined shea butter typically is odorless, with a pure white color. In some cases, hexane---a neuropathic toxin---is used in the refining process.

Unrefined

• According to the American Shea Butter Institute, unrefined shea butter is the better choice if you hope to reap the full spectrum of benefits it offers. Unrefined or raw shea butter is extracted without the use of toxic chemicals or synthetics. It typically has a nutty aroma, and its color ranges from cream to grayish-yellow. Note, however, that while its fragrance is relatively mild, some people find the smell of unrefined shea butter off-putting.

How to Get the Perfect Red Hair Shade

 How to choose the most flattering, natural looking and best shade of red hair for your skin tone?      If you are not sure of your skin tone, ask a professional for their view. They'll advise you on your coloring and what red hair shades will and won't work for you.

You've finally spotted the perfect red hair on the fashion magazine. What you have to realize is that the color of one's skin tone can affect that perfect hair color.

FOR LIGHT SKIN TONES:

For blondes or those who want a subtle red shade, try a strawberry blonde shade. This works great with pale skin tones as it won't overpower your coloring. Keep your color choice on the lighter side. Dark reds will wash out your skin coloring, so opt for the subtler reds such as terra-cottas.

Light brunettes and dark blondes can add a hint of red that will blend with their natural hair and give a slight but noticeable boost to their hair color.

Remember a little bit of red goes a long way. To ease yourself into the realm of red, try adding red hair color via highlights.

Stick to the warmer shades of red. Deep violet reds won't work, so choose warmer, softer reds.



FOR MEDIUM SKIN TONES:
Medium skin tones should stick with medium red hair shades. Auburns are a great choice as long as they're not too dark.

Avoid extremely bright reds such as bright coppers or light orange-reds. A medium reddish brown is likely to compliment your coloring without looking drastic.
Lowlights in a slightly darker and redder shade of your natural color is a great introduction into red. If you're unsure if red is for you, start slowly with this method.




FOR DARK SKIN TONES:

Darker and olive skin tones should stick with the cooler red shades.

Burgundies and violet-based colors will flatter your skin tones best.

Avoid very light reds, such as strawberry blonde and bright auburn. Deep mahogany reds are subtle and a great introduction into red hair shades for your skin tone.

For a fun look, try having panels of slightly different reds applied throughout your hair. This dimensional look is eye-catching and far from ordinary for those who like to get noticed.

I'm 50 and I read an article called "What Your Skin Needs" I believe it was from Glo Magazine.   This is what it said...

If you only do one thing: As estrogen levels drop in this decade, your oil glands' production slows, which means your skin now needs a heavier dose of hydration.
